The Valjala hill fort has a diameter from 110-120 meters and dates from at least the beginning of the 13th century. It is located on a natural hill, with the walls reaching up to 8 meters above the surrounding area.
In February 1227 the Valjala stronghold surrendered to the crusaders. An episode chronicled by Henry of Livonia.
